The other lesson that stood out to me was this:
What do we call women who are tough, like sports or work on cars? Tom boys. And that's acceptable.
What do we call men who are sensitive, more emotional, create beautiful things? Gay. And that's unacceptable.
Brother Williams, the teacher, then followed up with this:
Think of a man who creates beautiful things, who weeps with others, who connects with others on an emotional level and is sensitive to our needs and wants. Who is this person?
That person is God.
As soon as I realized this, I realized that this is just one more thing that Satan is destroying. By putting out the social stigma that men being emotional automatically means they are "gay," we are destroying God-like qualities out of society. Not only society, but these are qualities that most women look for in their husband! It's okay to cry, be open with emotions and be sensitive - but Satan has convinced us otherwise.
Hopefully with the gay-rights movement these understandings may be spread too. It's not obvious at first, but truth can always be found.
